Situated just one mile south of Stirling City Centre, St. Ninians is a well-established residential area of the city. The name of the area originates from the Old St Ninians Parish Church which is home to the only A-listed bell tower dating back to 1734, still standing today.
The area has changed over time and is now largely made up of residential dwellings. There are many local amenities on offer within St Ninians itself without having to go into the city centre, these include a medical practice, convenience shops, bars and restaurants. The city centre is also within easy reach either on foot or by car.
St Ninians has two local schools, St Ninian’s Primary School and Stirling High School. St Ninian’s Primary School has recently been subject to an £8.2M joint development by Stirling Council and The National Scotland Schools for the Future programme. The school serves children from nursery right up to primary 7, making this area a great option if you have kids of varying ages. Stirling High School performed very respectably in the recent league tables produced by The Herald, with almost 40% of pupils achieving 5 or more highers.
The local market continues to perform well, it was announced in the most recent House Price Index that the average property price within Stirling has risen by 7.2% since May last year, bringing the average price of a property to £189,709 – this is almost 25% higher than the average property price in Scotland, demonstrating that Stirling is very much considered a desirable place to live.
